Obituary for BARBARA GOZA

Barbara Ann Goza went to her Heavenly Father on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Park Manor of Conroe Skilled Nursing. She was born on January 29, 1936, in Dallas, to Marcus V. and Ruby (Curry) Thurmond. Barbara graduated from Krozier Tech High School (Dallas) in 1954. She married Sam Goza on May 17, 1968, in Durant, Oklahoma. Together they raised a blended family and enjoyed traveling, time spent with their children and grandchildren as well as activities with their friends. She relished in doing crafts of all kinds, singing gospel and shopping. She was known at family gatherings for her famous mustard potato salad and lemon icebox pie.
Barbara retired from Parkland Hospital in 1984 as a successful recruiter after helping establish Parkland’s Blood Donor Center. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Plano and of the Chapel Sunday School Class. Barbara is survived by her husband, Sam, son Cliff (Beth), Margo Allen, grandchildren Mark Goza (Lisa), Megan Tatusko (Ryan), Molly Goza, Mays Goza, Ashleigh (Aaron) Slinkard, Zach Goza, great-grandchild Ryder Tatusko, sister Doris McNellis and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother Marcus Thurmond Jr.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Park Manor of Conroe for Barbara’s care over the past 12 months. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Baptist Church of Plano, 1300 E 15th St, Plano, TX 75074.
