He was born October 15, 1929, in Reading, PA, to the late Ralph L. and Mabel M. Guenther. He was a 1947 graduate from Reading High School, and an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife Faye E. Guenther, of Mansfield, PA; son Gary and wife Heather, of Spring Texas; daughters Karen Guenther, of Mansfield, PA, and Lisa Coit, of Conroe, TX.; and five grandchildren, Heather and Emma, of Conroe, TX, and Kailey, Kira, and Kenzie, of Spring, TX.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Marie H. Bierbower, and brothers, Ralph L. Guenther, Jr. and Warren E. "Skip" Guenther.
Donald was a former accountant and Regional Controller for Continental Can Company, then Sonoco Products. In retirement he worked as a greeter for Wal-Mart, assisted the U.S. Census Bureau in the 2000 census, and worked with Operation: Coupons to send grocery coupons to military families serving overseas. His weeks were spent cutting coupons at Cypress Trails UMC and the Mangum-Howell center at Doss Park in Houston, where he also played cards on Wednesdays.
Burial will be at the Houston National Cemetery and a memorial service will be held on March, 25, at 7PM, at Cypress Trails United Methodist Church, 22801 Aldine Westfield Rd Spring, TX 77373, where memorial contributions can be made.
