Obituary for DORIS ANN BAIRD

Doris Ann Baird was born on February 20th, 1961 in Edinburg Texas and passed on February 22nd, 2018 in Bryan Texas. Doris graduated from Conroe High School in 1979, due to her exceptional talent in basketball; she was awarded a scholarship to San Jacinto College. She graduated with an Associates degree in Business.
During her life, Doris found fulfilment working for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for twenty-five years. She retired from the Hamilton Unit as the Security Threat Group Sergeant in 2013. Doris spent many memorable moments surrounded by friends and family. One of Doris’s strongest traits was her unwavering compassion towards others. This can be testified by the many people she encountered on her heartwarming path through life.
However, her proudest achievement in life was raising her only son, Johnathan Baird. After guiding him through his childhood years; then watching Johnathan walk the stage for his graduation, Doris had to say goodbye to her pride and joy for a short time as the Army helped transform him into a man. These goodbyes would come more often as Johnathan left home for training, search and rescue operations during natural disasters, and even overseas deployments. However, each goodbye was met with an opened armed and loving “welcome home”. Doris’s final goodbye would be on February 22nd when she was called home.
She is survived by her mother and step-father Jimmy and Alejandra Dyer of Russellville, Arkansas, life partner Melinda Esparza of Bryan, Texas, son Johnathan Baird of Bryan, Texas, brothers Jimmy Dyer and wife Kara of Conway, Arkansas, Lonnie Baird and wife Joyce of Houston, Texas and sisters Diana Roesler and husband Jerome of Russellville, Arkansas, Marie Bell and husband Neil of Russellville, Arkansas, and Darla Gilchrist of Navasota, Texas. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who she loved dearly. Doris is preceded in death by her father, Johnathan Daniel Baird and brother Larry Dean Baird.
