Obituary for ELIX JORDAN

Elix Jordan 99 passed away peacefully on March 9, 2018 in The Woodlands, TX. Elix is survived by his children: Leslie Jordan of Conroe, TX, Kathy (Dennie) Bledsaw of Alvin, TX, and David Jordan of Annandale VA, Alice “Ellis” Sellers, Martha “Pete” Kellum of Jacksonville, FL and grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as many extended family and friends.

Elix was preceded in death by children: Brian Lynn Jordan, Sandra Lee Jordan, and Keith Elix Jordan his parents- Benjamin Cleveland Jordan and Annie (Altman) Jordan, his brothers Raymond Jordan and Ira Jordan, his sister Irene Roland, and his beloved wife Katherine.

Elix was born in Waycross, GA on June 26, 1918, and raised in Jacksonville, FL. He joined the Navy in 1938 and was assigned to various ships and duty stations throughout his 20-year career. He was assigned to the USS Shangri-La and witnessed the A Bomb test in the Marshall Islands and saw action in the Pacific during WWII, when his ship, the USS Bright was hit by a kamikaze pilot. Elix returned to Jacksonville after being honorably discharged as Chief Petty Officer.

Elix worked as a diesel mechanic throughout his Naval career and in civilian life; often being called on by family and friends for assistance with mechanical issues. Elix enjoyed traveling in his RV with wife Katherine until her passing in 2013. Elix was brought to TX and briefly lived with his youngest daughter (Leslie) in Conroe, TX, until moving into Autumn Leaves of The Woodlands Memory Care facility in 2014.
