Obituary for JOHN HOLLISTER VALENTINE

John Hollister Valentine, born on September 21, 1944 in Minneapolis,
Minnesota, died on January 14, 2018. He went to the U. of Minnesota on a
full track scholarship and was a five time Minnesota state track champion.
In appreciation for this opportunity, he created the John H. Valentine
Scholarship fund for track student athlete. John volunteered for service in
the United States Marine Corp. where he served as a troop commander in
Vietnam. He was wounded twice, earned two Purple Hearts, a bronze star for
combat valor and numerous other service commendations. He was personally
assigned to protect President Johnson's son in law while touring the bush in
Vietnam. John was meritorious promoted to captain as a result of his war
time achievements and spent almost two years in the Philadelphia Navel
hospital recovering from war injuries. After Vietnam, John attended Harvard
and began a long career as an entrepreneur and business owner. He was the
founder and President of Hooks Industrial, a manufacturing enterprise
located in Conroe, Texas. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Robbi
Rossi, and his son Quinn Valentine, who will carry on his father's business
and will assume the role of President of Hooks Industrial.
