Obituary for OSCAR RICKEY HAYNES

Mr. Oscar Rickey " Rick " Haynes earned his angel wings when he lost his life fighting a short battle with cancer on Jan. 10, 2017. He was born on Aug. 15, 1946 in Attalla, AL. He has been a longtime resident of Montgomery, TX.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Flaucia
Haynes; and sisters, Amelia Cox and Charlotte Gilmer. Special nephews James Terry Nelson and Jason Dewitt Grant.

He graduated from Etowah High School Class of 1965. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran. Following his military career, he went on to college at Texas A & I University and Del Mar College and earned a degree in Thermodynamics. Retired from Hal Watson A/C and Heating.
Memorial service will be held at 1:00 on Tuesday, Feb.14, 2017, at Morgan Funeral Chapel. David Dunnwill officiate the service.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home for visitation on Tuesday from noon to 1:00 p.m. Graveside service and interment will follow at Morton's Chapel UMC Church Cemetery. Morgan Funeral Chapel & Crematory directing.
Rick leaves behind: his wife, of almost 50 years, Brenda, two children, Son: Keith Haynes and wife Diane, and Daughter: Kimberely (Haynes) Reed and husband Richard. Three amazing Granddaughters: Kristin Paige Haynes, Jalynne Whyte and her husband Kyle, and Natalee Cheyenne Reed. Two heart filling Great Grandchildren: Garret Richard Whyte and Kenlee Grace Forsythe-Papaw's "Kindlin". Along with numerous other family members and friends.
While Rick had overcome numerous medical obstacles. Falling from an Oil Derrick in 1970, being told that he may never walk again. Surviving a Cardiac Arrest in 2012 because God was not done with him yet.

Things that meant the most to Rick was, family, fishing, hunting, coaching sports for his son and granddaughters, taking his kids and their friends to the lake and pulling them behind his boat on some water skies or knee boards, bowling, playing cards with family and friends, watching his Dallas Cowboys and drinking Dr. Pepper.
Family and friends are invited back to the home of Patricia Nelson following the committal service, 3380 Pilgrims Rest Road, Southside AL 35907.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to St. Jude Hospital or Cancer Research.
