Obituary for Rudolph Cecil Redden

Rudolph “Rudy” Cecil Redden, Sr. was born January 4, 1928 in Conroe Texas and passed away on July 17, 2018. Rudolph was a lifelong resident of Conroe and married Ruth Marie Castleschouldt Redden in 1950. They were faithfully and lovingly married for 67 years, raising five children. He proudly served his country in the United States Army upon graduating Conroe High School. After his military service Rudolph returned home to work with his father in the family automotive repair business, eventually establishing Rudy’s Auto Service. He gained the reputation as being the most knowledgeable, respected and trustworthy mechanic in the area. Rudolph studied at Baylor University and received his teaching certificate from Texas A&M University becoming the founding director and creating the curriculum for the Auto Tech Program at Conroe High School. He impacted countless young minds while training many future mechanics, both in the classroom and in his local business. Rudolph enjoyed restoring vintage cars and trucks while also making unique modifications. Working on automobiles was not his only enjoyment, he also liked working out in the yard and inventing useful tools.
Rudolph and Ruth Redden were faithful members of The Church of the Nazarene in Conroe. Rudolph served on the local and district church boards and served as the choir director for many years. They enjoyed traveling with their children and grandchildren, many times bringing along family friends on their journeys and adventures. They both served God by doing whatever they could for those in need.
Rudolph is preceded in death by his wife Ruth Marie Castleschouldt Redden, father Joseph Augustus Redden and mother Ethel Rogers Redden, brother Joseph Douglas Redden, sisters Evelyn Rose Redden James and Mary Aline Redden Ratcliff Nixon. He is survived by his children Deborah Harper whose husband, Ron Harper is deceased, Rudy Redden, Jr. and wife Deborah Slade Redden, Phillip Redden, Stephen Redden, and Amy Redden Miller and husband Russell Miller, Sr. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Kendra Harper Stagg and husband Michael Joe Stagg, Keith Miller and wife Leslie, Stephenie Redden, Chalise Harper Brown and husband Cory Brown, Jenna Redden Ekroat and husband Bryan, James Redden, Austin Miller and wife Marie, Mason Miller, Cory Redden, Daniel Redden, 13 great grandchildren with one on the way, and one great-great grandchild.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 19, 2018 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at McNutt Funeral Home at 1703 Porter Rd, Conroe, Texas. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 20, 2018 at 10:00am at McNutt Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Conroe Memorial Park.
