James Eddie J Oliver, was born January 12 1962
In Midway Alabama to the parents Lately Jackson Colfield and Elma Oliver

In 1971 James and his mother moved in with his auntie Georgia Mae Streeter and her family in Chicago , Illinois . He attended Daniel Webster Grammar School and Crane High school . During the 80's James was a professional Golden Glove Lightweight boxer .

In 1982 he met the love of his life Renee Mayfield , they fell in love and had their first child James Mayfield in 1984, in 1986 second child Jessica Oliver , third child Felicia Mayfield in 1987, and their fourth child Evelyn Oliver in 1989 .

On September 22nd 1984 James and Renee joined hands in marriage at Chicago City Hall .James and his family left Chicago to reunite with his sister Velma Douglas in Monroe Louisiana .Together the family moved to San Antonio,Texas in 2001 .

One thing James was known for , for a fact was that he maintained , provided and protected his family . He had numerous of jobs in his lifetime ,his last place of employment was with the Big Bib BBQ restaurant . He admired the business and devoted his time & dedication without a doubt as a hard worker.

When James found out he had Lung cancer, He and his wife moved to Houston Texas to live with their daughter Evelyn Oliver. While being a patient at the M.D Anderson Cancer Center for treatment ,* Like the fighter he was* James put up a fight through out the battle ,and he was happy to share his progress .

On February 28th , 2019 at 5:45am James lost his battle with cancer .. He preceded in death by his parents Lately and Elma , his sister's Velma and Lilliie . He leaves behind his lovely wife Renee , 4 amazing children James , Jessica , Felicia , and Evelyn . 6 beautiful grandchildren -Ariel Oliver , Desieriah Mayfield ,Kaliyah Mayfield , Donjay Hammond , Demitri Mayfield , and Melicia Green along with a host of nieces , nephews and cousins .

James Oliver was an amazing Lovable remarkable Husband , Father , Grandfather , and an Outstanding mentor ,& very outgoing throughout his lifetime until his death . He loved teaching , guiding , helping everyone and uplifting whenever needed. James AKA "Getty " specialized in photography . He enjoyed the creativity with pictures and the thrill behind the outcome.

Apart of us went with you the day God took you home.
In life we loved you dearly, In death we love you still.
In our hearts you hold a place no one could ever fill.
Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.
You leaving caused so much pain,but earth's lost is haven's gain.
