Everyone who knew or met Jerry would tell you that he was the nicest man they had ever met. Jerry had a love for God, family, friends, and his church. He had a gift of making people feel comfortable with his ease for conversation and his love to make people laugh.
Jerry loved his family with his whole heart. He was the proud great-grandfather to CoraAnn and Gage. He was also very close to his many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sisters Kay Barnett and husband Gene and Shelia McDonald and husband Donald, and his aunt Carolyn Wiley. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Timms and his father, Talmadge Timms.
Jerry loved his church and church family. He joined Allendale Baptist Church in 1999 and later served as deacon and music minister. It was always a blessing to hear his beautiful voice honoring his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Jerry loved sports both watching and participating in them. During his lifetime, he played basketball, softball, tennis, bowling, and golf. At one time, Jerry was an avid runner. He was very dedicated and was able to complete 16 marathons including Pike’s Peak and many Houston Marathons. He was proud to be called a Houston Marathon Veteran.
