Obituary for Joseph Cargal

Joseph Jay Cargal, 68, of Conroe, Texas, passed away Saturday, September 8, 2018, because of injuries sustained in a vehicular accident in Shelby County, Texas. Jay was born in Princeton, Indiana, on December 6, 1949, to the late Joseph H. and Loveda (Richards) Cargal. He was the fourth of 10 children.

Jay is survived by his wife, Aline Cargal, his three children, two step children, five grandchildren, and nine siblings — Children & grandchildren: Patrick Cargal and his wife, Erica, and their daughter; Andy Cargal and his wife, Ashlee, and their three children; Jack Cargal and his partner, Kim, and his son; Charles Dalme; and Amber Dalme. Siblings: Larry (Sue) Cargal, Ken (Wanda) Cargal, Bill (Val) Cargal, Rex Cargal, Julie (Mark) Rider, Mark (Lisa) Cargal, Clark Cargal, Allan (Elaine) Cargal, and Karl (Sheila) Cargal.

Jay lived his life in the service of others. After graduating from Warren Central High School in 1969, he served in the US Army from 1969–1971. He adored his wife, his children and grandchildren, his parents and siblings, and his entire extended family. He considered his family as his most precious gifts, and he treated each one of them as such.

After living most of his first 30 years in Indianapolis, Indiana, he and his brother Ken and their families moved to Houston, Texas, in 1980, in search of better employment. While Jay worked for a number of companies in the ensuing years, the bulk of his employment was spent with Hawaiian Marine Imports and XPO Logistics (previously Con-way). As each of his employers would attest, Jay was an incredibly dedicated employee and exemplified hard work in everything he did — both at work and at home.

In addition to loving people, Jay also loved animals. Most recently he had five dogs, and over the years he has provided a home to many other animals.
