Obituary for Lee Johnson Cartwright

Mr. Lee Johnson Cartwright
Lee Johnson Cartwright passed away on October 21, 2018 at 06:15 am at the age of 92 years old, residing at Ultimate Personal Care Home in Houston, Texas. He was born to the late Dave and Malinda Cartwright on August 9, 1926 in San Augustine, Texas. He was the sixth of nine children born to that union. He attended school in Jamestown, Texas and later moved to Kirbyville, Texas where he joined the United States Army during World War II and making the rank of Corporal before his discharge; he served his country with pride.
After being discharged from the Army he returned to Kirbyville, Texas and met the love of his life, Mrs. Franzetta Thomas (deceased) and they were married on October 23, 1948. He worked a few years there and to this union was born their first born son; David Lee Cartwright (deceased) (Cassie). They decided to move to Houston, Texas in the early 1950’s and he found employment with the City Of Houston, and eventually promoted to Crew Chief, retiring after thirty-five years of employment.
While making Houston his permanent home of residence, six more children were joined to this union; Bruce Wayne Cartwright of Magnolia, Texas (Patricia), Pastor Karen Yvette McGlory of Houston Texas, Olivia Kay Cartwright (deceased), Cynthia Denise Cornish of Houston, Texas, Ralph Douglas Cartwright (deceased) (Faye), and Minister Lessie Marie Brown of Houston, Texas (Calvin).
He accepted JESUS CHRIST as his LORD and SAVIOR at an early age during his childhood days under the guidance of his parents and when he moved to Houston he united with Providence Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor K.C.Mason Sr.. Loving to sing while he was growing up he joined the choir at Providence for a number of years and served in other capacities of the church.
He loved the outdoors and hunting and fishing was his favorite hobbies and not only that, he could fix almost anything. He was always doing something outdoors; whether working on a truck or lawn mower or even barbecuing he could make it work. Respected and loved by the neighbors in the neighborhood he always treated people with respect.
Lee Johnson Cartwright leaves to cherish his memories a loving family of four children, eighteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, three loving daughter-in-law’s, one son-in-law and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
