Obituary for Maryann Elizabeth Sasser

Maryann Carder-Sasser passed away at her home in New Caney, Texas on Sunday, March 3, 2019.

Maryann Elizabeth Sasser was born Maryann Elizabeth Carder on May 5, 1972 in Channelview, Texas. She grew up in the Houston area and graduated from Dickinson High School in 1990 as a proud member of the Color Guard team. Though she spent most of her life in Texas, she also called Oregon and Ohio home in her adult years before settling permanently in her beloved home state.

Maryann was known for her bubbly and sweet personality. She could always be found with a smile on her face and found joy in everything. When Maryann loved, she loved BIG, with her whole heart. She never met a stranger and because of that has many, many friends that will miss her dearly.

Maryann loved country music and was part of the Tracy Byrd fan club, meeting him several times at different concert events. She was a huge fan of the local band, One Eyed Doll, and could be seen at every local concert they put on. She became a resident photographer at their concerts, always willing to snap candids with the band and their fans. She loved the movie Titanic and saw it 17 times in the movie theater when it was released. Maryann loved to crochet, read, go to the beach, dance and spend time with her friends and family.

Maryann’s heart for people knew no bounds. She was involved in and volunteered with the Discovery Program in Austin, Texas for many years. It was her fondest wish that everyone she knew go through the program and discover joy and purpose in their life. Maryann was a giver and she gave of her time, her heart and her love to anyone that was willing to accept it. She loved on people of all walks of life and was open and accepting of all.

More than anything, Maryann loved her daughters and took pride in their accomplishments. She often said that the best thing she ever did in her life was have her 3 girls.

Maryann worked for Progressive in Austin for many years and worked at Sterling Commerce in Ohio when she was a resident there. She enjoyed working with people and helping them in any way that she could. She won awards for her customer service skills, knowledge and friendliness.

Maryann is survived by her husband, Louis Sasser, daughters Harley Haltermann, Azaley Meredith, Presley Meredith and stepsons Ryan Sasser, Gage Sasser and Kolton Mize. She is also survived by her mother, Debra Lambert, father Stephen Cantrell, Grandmother Betty Needham and her siblings, Stacy Gouge Drake, Jeannie Delaney, Ronda Carder, Jennifer Chemin, Sandy Green, Kimberly Diamante, Amanda Mints and Michael Carder. Her adopted father Ronni Carder preceded her in death by one day. She leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins that will miss her dearly.

Maryann would encourage you to live life to the fullest, with joy and faith. We are comforted that she is in the arms of her heavenly Father, whom she believed in with her whole heart. We will love and miss you forever, Maryann.
