Obituary for Wesley E. Hunter

Wesley Eugene Hunter, 73, passed away on March 1, 2019 at VITAS Inpatient Unit, Conroe, Texas. He was the husband of Sharon Ann Hunter. They shared 53 years of marriage together.

Born in Marlin, Texas he was the son of the late John Wesley Hunter and late Ellie Zelma Mooney. After High School he enlisted in the Navy for an adventure and traveled the world. Completing his 4 year service in the Navy as a communications specialist, he started work with the Southern Pacific Railroad in Houston, Texas as a dispatcher. He retired from the railroad at the age of 60.

He was a member of the Living Church of God. He enjoyed fishing, baseball, family and finding a deal on fishing equipment and tools. He is remembered for his passion as a young father teaching his kids to play baseball and taking them fishing. He was kind, gentle and always had a smile for his grandkids when they walked into a room. The doughnut run, without warning, was one of his favorite things to do for his grandkids (and he did not always seek parent’s permission). He would not depart from a visit without a hug, a kiss, and telling you he loved you.

He is survived by his wife Sharon Hunter, son Wesley Hunter, son Jeffrey and wife Jennifer Hunter, their children Haley and husband Joel Jenney, Karly and husband Jacob Porter, Great-grandchildren Isaiah and Jeffrey Jenney, McKenzie, Cassidy and Liam Porter, daughter Leah Webb, her children Jordyn and husband Kris Christenson, Hunter Petty, Katelyn Webb, Great-grandchildren Kaicen, Kinley, and Kade Christenson. He was predeceased by brothers William Hunter, Wayne Hunter, grandchild Blake Hunter, great-grandchild Elijah Jenney.

The funeral service will be held on March 7, 2019 at 11:00am at McNutt Funeral Home 1703 Porter Rd, Conroe, Texas 77301, with a interment at the Houston National Cemetery 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, Texas. The viewing will be held from 10:00am to the time of the service.
