There are condolences waiting approval on THOMAS's Tribute wall

Thomas Dennis Cregan, age 77, a resident of Willis, Texas, went to be with his Lord on February 5, 2018, after a long battle with a variety of health issues.

Tom was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Thomas Cregan and Margaret Flagel Cregan. Tom and his family moved to California when he was 14, where he played football at La Puente High School. He joined the Army when he was 18, serving with the 1st Infantry Division–The Big Red One–in Vietnam during his 10 years as Sergeant. He was later stationed in Germany, where he guarded West Berlin while the Berlin Wall was being built. It was in Germany that Tom met and married his first wife Ursula Poepel. They have two children Patrick and Tina. Tom moved his family to Colorado and then Seattle, where he worked for the US Postal Service, later retiring after 10 years of service. Ursula passed away in 1985 and Tom remarried Nancy Kay Robertson on March 29, 1989.

Tom and Nancy loved to travel, so they spent many years in their RV traveling across the United States. They later settled in Texas to be near family and to help raise their great grandson Cole. Tom was a talented painter, passionate Goldwing motorcycle rider, avid fisherman and huge fan of Notre Dame football.

Tom’s greatest accomplishment was his family. He is survived by his wife Nancy; son Patrick Cregan and wife Stephanie, daughter Tina (Cregan) Reeves and husband Oats, step-daughter Tammy Welch, step-son David Bird and wife Cindy, and step-daughter Caroline Japic and husband Haris; twelve grandchildren Randi (Cregan) Klemonsky and husband Brian, Ryan Cregan, Justin Reeves, Heidi Huynh and husband Tuyen, Jeremy Reeves, Tim Welch and wife Shelly, Christy Schmidt and husband Chris, Anthony Bird, Austin Bird, Chloe Japic, Sydney Japic and Reese Japic; five great-grandchildren Cole Schmidt, Carter Schmidt, Braedon Klemonsky, Brannen Klemonsky, Camryn Tuyen; brother Joseph Cregan and wife Sharon, sister Barbara Cregan, sister Terese Hodgson and husband Rick, and sister Margie Gebhardt; and several nieces and nephews.

Tom was an amazing husband, loving father, attentive grandfather, and the kindest man you will ever meet. He was a happy and peaceful man who only saw the good in people. He had a heart the size of Texas and a laugh that was contagious. We will carry his beautiful memory in our hearts forever.

A graveside memorial is scheduled for Monday, February 26, 11:00AM at McNutt Funeral Home, Conroe, Texas.
