Obituary for JAMES LA RUE DOUGLASS

James L (Jim) Douglass Jr. passed away on April 15, 2018. He was born to Margaret and James (LaRue) Douglass on September 26, 1945 in Fort Pierce, Florida where Margaret was staying with family members while LaRue was serving his country in the Pacific during World War II. Margaret eventually came back to Texas and supported the effort by building planes at North American Aviation. She told wonderful stories of the applause throughout the plant upon the completion of every one. Jim continued the tradition of service with the Coast Guard and was proud to also be a third generation Master Mason with the Grand Lodge of Texas, Archives # 1399. Jim is survived by his wife of 41 years, Connie. Jim and Connie met on September 26, 1975. Both were surprised to learn they shared a birthday. When the decision was made to be married, September 26 seemed like a good day. The "His birthday / Her birthday / Meeting Day / Anniversary Day" was his favorite story to tell. It was a celebration every year, often at the tables in Vegas or Lake Tahoe betting on 9 and 26 at the Roulette table. Jim is also survived by two sons, James III; wife Teresa and Joseph (Joe); wife Edid, as well as grandchildren Robert, Michael, Angela and Joseph Jr. Jim was adamant that there be no service and his wishes will be honored. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to a charity of your choice. Jim was an animal lover and would be honored for remembrances to be sent to Houston K911 Rescue at houstonk911rescue.org.
