Obituary for Steve Arnold Villarreal

On Thursday, March 14, 2019, Steve Arnold Villarreal, loving husband, father and grandfather passed away gracefully at age 80.
Steve was born on August 3, 1938 in Gila, NM to Julian and Clara (Dominguez) Villarreal. He received his BS degree in Agricultural from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, NM in 1963. During the summers of his college years he worked as a fire-spotter for the US Forest Service. He retired as Housing Chief of New Mexico for the US Department of Agriculture in 1987. He had a second career in real-estate and construction until 2006.
On June 17, 1961, he married Jonnye Hodges. They raised five children Steven, Bryan, Reneé, Patrick and Craig.
He loved to camp, hunt and fish in the Gila mountains of his beloved home state of New Mexico. He was passionate about his family and instilled in them his incredible work ethic. He was known for his quirky wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Julian, his son Patrick, his mother, Clara, his son Steven and his brother Robert. He is survived by his wife Jonnye, his three children, Bryan, Reneé, Craig, his five grandchildren Cassandra, Tristen, Gabriel, Brendon, Wyatt, his brother Julian, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, March 20th, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on 109 N. Frazier Street, Conroe TX 77301 at 10 o’clock a.m. preceded by a rosary at 9 o’clock a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the American Parkinson Disease Association at
